Canadian Ram Tank, Peak District

History
Canadian Ram Mk II tank that was built in Canada during the Second World War. Although the Ram tank was designed for combat, it was mainly used for training because other tanks, such as the Sherman, became the standard tank used by Allied forces.

After the war, the tank was brought to the UK and was eventually placed on Harpur Hill as a military training target. British soldiers used the area to practise movement, navigation and battlefield exercises.
